Aren’t they lovely? My husband loves flowers and his garden shows it.

Joyful June
Joyful June

As sweetest lilacs waft their incense round,
Graceful spirea dons her bridal gown.
Purple-vested irises hold heads high,
And cheerful pansies smile up at the sky.
While June presides, coy summer marries spring,
As with joyful voices, birds are carolling.
More Garden Colours
As the spring gets warmer more flowers are appearing.
Even as they are fading, the tulips are blazing beauties.
Our Very Own Tulip Festival
Our garden is bursting with beautiful tulips:

The hyacinths are blooming;
Their sweet perfume abounds.
New tulips are standing tall
Where crocus last was found.
Crimson cardinals are wooing
Feathered maidens in the trees,
And the promises of summer
Softly whisper in May’s breeze.
Signs of Spring in the Garden
Spring is popping up in our garden now and the birds are singing all about it.
Still Life in a Time of Drought
Our poor garden is still going even during our season of drought. The gladiolas have fainted but the phlox and sunflowers are doing quite well. Black-eyed susans are perky and the birds are taking baths in the heat. Here is the proof.
If you happen to know any rain dances, Ontario would surely appreciate it. Our grass is crispy crunch right now. 😀
Appreciating God’s Gifts
“Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.’ ” (Genesis 1:29)
This is a view of our vegetable garden. When the children were still at home it was much larger. My husband is the gardener. I weed it occasionally, but he is the principal tender. As you can see we will have a bountiful crop of sunflowers soon which will make our bird visitors very happy. We have regular visits from the blue jays, goldfinches, sparrows, house finches and downy woodpeckers, not to forget the squirrels and chipmunks.
This is our would-be garden guardian, Ceilidh. She is part border collie, part boxer, but more of a lover than a squirrel chaser. I don’t think the squirrels and chipmunks are fooled by her big bark or her growl. However, she isn’t that friendly towards strange cars or bicycles who dare to use our road. She would give a good accounting of herself when necessary. She is a wonderful companion and loves visits from our grandchildren.
Here are a few of our feathered friends. I apologize for the fuzzy pictures. I’m not the most accomplished bird photographer.
Here is another picture of our property looking towards the road.
More Flowers From Our Garden
